COLLEGIAN Vol. XLVI — No. 34 Western Washington College, Bellingham, Wash. Friday, June 2, 1950 Test Time Schedules The approved schedule for this quarter's final examinations has been completed and is listed below: Ten o'clock classes and all classes "meeting once or twice weekly, hold examinations in the last scheduled period. (This will be Monday for the 10 o'clock classes.) WEDNESDAY, JUNE 7 9:00 o'clock classes at 8:00 a. m. 11:00 o'clock classes at 10:00 a. m. 2:00 o'clock classes at 1:00 p. m. THURSDAY, JUNE 8 8:00 o'clock classes at 8:00 a. m. 1:00 o'clock classes at 1:00 p. m. 3:00 o'clock classes at 10:00 a. m. Final grades are due in the registrar's office, Monday, June 12, at 9:00 a. m. Seniors Plan For Class Day "Senior class day will be held at 2 p. m. next Tuesday, June 6, in the auditorium. "All students are welcome to attend the class day program. It may be the lower-classmen's only chance to see the seniors in caps and gowns, as seating space is very limited at commencement," announced Art Runestrand, senior class president. Presentation of awards will take place at the assembly. Among the awards made will be the freshman cup, to the freshman who Mas received the highest grade point average throughout the year, the Collegian, Klipsun, Who's Who, Board of Control, and Chess club awards. Following the program in the auditorium the class will file out to the lawn, where members of the audience may follow. A ceremony will take place outside which includes a reading by Phil Hansen. The band and chorus will be among the pageantry which takes place out-of-doors. : Art Runestrand will present the book and key to next year's senior class president, Dave Grocott. Alumni to Hear Tacoma Schoql Leader at Tomorrow's Banquet Western's 1950 graduates will be guests of the Alumni association at the annual banquet tomorrow evening in Edens hall for which Dr. Alden Blankenship, superintendent of Tacoma schools, has been named principal speaker. . The alumni banquet will Wegin at 5:30 o'clock. Trygve Blix, alumni president and principal of Washington school, Tacoma, will preside. Graduation will be in the gym, with guests being admitted by invitation only. . . The fifty-first annual-commencement will begin with an outdoor processional from the library to the physical education building. The college band will play the "Tannhauser March" by Wagner which will be directed by Don C. Walter. The processional will be played by the college orchestra under the direction of Frank L. D'Andrea. "Pomp and Circumstance" by Elger will be the music The opening music in the gym will be "The Star Spangled Banner", which will be sung by the audience. The invocation will be given by the Reverend Clarence Haugen, minister of Our Saviour's Lutheran church in Bellingham. The college orchestra will play the andante from "Symphony No. 5" by Schubert. ' * The main address will be given by Wilson Compton, president of Washington State College. Next on the program will be the singing of "America the Beautiful" by the audience. Awarding of diplomas and conrerring of degrees will be done by President W. W. Haggard and Joseph T. Pemberton, chairman of the his B.A. degree from the University of Washington.
