Western Collection: Russo, S. (VF)
A teacher and scholar of physical biochemistry, Salvatore F. Russo was born February 6, 1938, in Hartford, Connecticut. He was educated at Wesleyan University (BA (Chemistry), 1960) and Northwestern University (PhD (Chemistry), 1964). His doctoral dissertation was entitled Hydrogen Bonds between Model Peptide Groups in Solution. His post-doctoral professional experience includes appointments at the University of Washington and Sacramento State College. In 1968, Dr. Russo joined the faculty of the department of Chemistry at Western Washington University, where he attained the rank of Professor in 1983. He has also served as Professor Adjoint, Visiting Professor, and Visiting Fellow at the University of Colorado, as Visiting Professor at Washington State University, and as Visiting Scientist at COBE Laboratories. Author and co-author of many articles in professional journals, Dr. Russo's interests include biochemical research, protein structure and function, fluorescence techniques, and chemical education.
Scope and Content Note
The collection consists of off-prints, photocopies of articles, and other contributions authored and co-authored by Dr. Russo in the field of physical biochemistry and chemical education. It includes Dr. Russo's résumé and a list of publications. The collection is ongoing, with the first work published in 1963.
